One of our most popular programs, this fast paced week incorporates singing, dancing and acting. Musical Theatre is the basis and primary focus for the week, with an emphasis on singing and blocking musical numbers. Class includes script work.
Friday of each week culminates with an in-classroom demonstration for parents and friends. Each week is different…many students take several of these week-long camps.

Join the Rockit staff for a week-long immersion into the world of Rock ‘n Roll!
Course will cover a wide variety of topics including: Rock history and its evolution, auditioning techniques, improvisation techniques, guitar licks, proper equipment tuning and set up. Learn what goes into forming and playing in a Rock Band. Plus - special surprise guests from the world of Rock n’ Roll!
Bruce Gallipani played his first gig when entering the first grade. After years of professional touring and recording, Gallipani now directs the area's premiere Rock n’ Roll band program at the Count Basie Theatre, Rockit For Kids. Recognizing that mentorship is one of the key elements to working with young musicians, Gallipani's private drum instruction is one of Rockit For Kids best kept secrets in propelling energy through Rockit For Kids concerts.

Kids love fairy tales, and this week-long camp is a great way to stimulate their imagination by combining dramatic play with classic children’s literature. A wonderful way to unleash creativity while having fun and gaining theatrical skills. A classroom performance will be held at the end of the week.

As a young entrepreneur, you will develop imaginary products, create your packaging, and direct and film your own commercial, just like on the popular TV show, “The Apprentice”. Students will have the opportunity to sell their products “live” to a captive audience of family and friends at the conclusion of this innovative workshop. This class will have you “FIRED” up!

Students will explore the dynamics of creative dramatics and visual arts as they create their own masks from a variety of artist’s materials. Want a Tony or a Grammy? Fredi Walker-Browne, a Broadway performer (Original cast of RENT) teaches a series of physical and vocal exercises that enforce proper breathing, proper posture and the singing techniques created by genius, Joe Scott. Learn to increase vocal range and adjust to various vocal styles: rock, pop, jazz and musical theatre. Class includes group harmonic singing with an emphasis on solo work and development of “audition material”. There will be an informal class demonstration at the end of the week. VOCAL PERFORMANCE FROM THE INSIDE OUT

This "conservatory style " class teaches singing technique and performance of songs on a pre-professional level. Students are introduced to vocal technique that will serve them in performing all styles of music. Students will learn how to “act a song ”, dissect the lyrics, find its subtext and intentions and perform it with emotional connection. They will experience clear methods for keeping their voice on the “speaking level”, avoiding breaks and allowing them to sing multiple styles of music from rock, to musical theatre and classical, in a healthy way. Students will also receive guidance in choosing songs that are well suited for them for auditions and concerts.
Stephanie Chaiken has spent the past 25 years in the entertainment industry working as a drama and voice teacher, performer, Artistic Director, producer, artist manager and booking agent.
Stephanie received a B.A. degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Drama and English, did graduate work in Theater at Emerson College and studied Music at The Boston Conservatory. Stephanie has trained in NY with acclaimed vocal teachers Judith Farris, Keith Davis and Ken Jacobson and attended Circle in the Square theatre school. She has co-produced live touring shows from licensed television and film properties, was the Artistic Director for Algonquin Arts and the Program Director for the Huntington Arts Council. Stephanie served as Vocal Director/Producer and Artist Advisor on development projects with writers Rhoda Roberts (hits with Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, etc.) and Doug James (hits with Laura Brannigan, Michael Bolton, Dan Hill) and writer/producer Ken Lehman (hits with Chic).
SIGHT READING & MUSIC THEORY FOR SINGERS

In this 3-week intensive, vocalists will strengthen their performance skills and understanding of music. The following elements of music will be covered: Ear Training (the process of identifying chords, rhythms and other elements of music), Sight Reading (the conversion of written music from sight to sound) & Music Theory (the language and notation of music). Important for auditions and rehearsals.
Keith Heimann – Keith holds a M.F.A. in music from The Julliard School, with postgraduate work at Westminster Choir College. He is currently a professor of music and Department Chairperson (Performing Arts) at Brookdale Community College. Mr. Heimann appeared on Broadway in “The Phantom of the Opera” and also appeared with The Santa Fe Opera, The Los Angeles Opera, The Houston Grand Opera, The New York Grand Opera and The Vienna Kammeroper.

As a young entrepreneur, you will develop imaginary products, create your packaging, and direct and film your own commercial, just like on the popular TV show, “The Apprentice”. Have fun while you develop “creative thinking”, problem solving techniques, and right brain / left brain stimulation. Students will have the opportunity to sell their products “live” to a captive audience of family and friends at the conclusion of this innovative workshop. This class will have you “FIRED” up!

Want a Tony or a Grammy? Fredi Walker-Browne, a Broadway performer (Original cast of RENT) teaches a series of physical and vocal exercises that enforce proper breathing, proper posture and the singing techniques created by genius, Joe Scott. Learn to increase vocal range and adjust to various vocal styles: rock, pop, jazz and musical theatre. Class includes group harmonic singing with an emphasis on solo work and development of “audition material”. There will be an informal class demonstration at the end of the week. Students will also have the opportunity to perform in the end of Summer Student Showcase on the stage of the Count Basie Theatre.

This "conservatory style " class teaches singing technique and performance of songs on a pre-professional level. Students are introduced to vocal technique that will serve them in performing all styles of music. Students will learn how to “act a song ”, dissect the lyrics, find its subtext and intentions and perform it with emotional connection. They will experience clear methods for keeping their voice on the “speaking level”, avoiding breaks and allowing them to sing multiple styles of music from rock, to musical theatre and classical, in a healthy way. Students will also receive guidance in choosing songs that are well suited for them for auditions and concerts.
Stephanie Chaiken has spent the past 25 years in the entertainment industry working as a drama and voice teacher, performer, Artistic Director, producer, artist manager and booking agent.
Stephanie received a B.A. degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Drama and English, did graduate work in Theater at Emerson College and studied Music at The Boston Conservatory. Stephanie has trained in NY with acclaimed vocal teachers Judith Farris, Keith Davis and Ken Jacobson and attended Circle in the Square theatre school. She has co-produced live touring shows from licensed television and film properties, was the Artistic Director for Algonquin Arts and the Program Director for the Huntington Arts Council. Stephanie served as Vocal Director/Producer and Artist Advisor on development projects with writers Rhoda Roberts (hits with Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, etc.) and Doug James (hits with Laura Brannigan, Michael Bolton, Dan Hill) and writer/producer Ken Lehman (hits with Chic).
SIGHT READING & MUSIC THEORY FOR SINGERS

In this 3-week intensive, vocalists will strengthen their performance skills and understanding of music. The following elements of music will be covered: Ear Training (the process of identifying chords, rhythms and other elements of music), Sight Reading (the conversion of written music from sight to sound) & Music Theory (the language and notation of music). Important for auditions and rehearsals.
Keith Heimann – Keith holds a M.F.A. in music from The Julliard School, with postgraduate work at Westminster Choir College. He is currently a professor of music and Department Chairperson (Performing Arts) at Brookdale Community College. Mr. Heimann appeared on Broadway in “The Phantom of the Opera” and also appeared with The Santa Fe Opera, The Los Angeles Opera, The Houston Grand Opera, The New York Grand Opera and The Vienna Kammeroper.
